About Seymour, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Seymour is a charming Midwestern town that is the ideal type of community for young families.  The seasonal weather means that, with each passing month, the weather changes and the town has a whole new landscape and vibe. There are so many and goings-on to get involved with that you won’t even know where to start.  In the balminess of the summer months, you will love being outside at the town’s many parks, pools and other well-maintained and beautiful facilities.  In the winter, your kids can sled, skate and build snowmen. Residents love it and visitors never want to leave.

One of the more interesting stories about Seymour revolves around the Reno Gang. On a cool, autumn evening in 1866, 3 men (who were part of the “Reno Gang”) broke into the express car of a train as it departed from Seymour.  They restrained the guard, broke open a safe containing approximately $16,000 and threw another (larger) safe over the side of the moving train, to waiting accomplices.  Unable to open the second safe, they fled the scene when they were about to be captured. However, they got away with the sixteen grand.  The Reno Brothers are buried in unmarked graves in the old cemetery in town.

That kind of fascinating 19th century history is everywhere in the small towns in the part of Indiana.  Take, for example, the nearby town of Columbus.  The small town is home to 7 structures on the National Register of Historic Buildings. With churches, schools, homes and offices designed by architectural icons like Eero Saarinen and Harry Weese, extraordinary green spaces and history everywhere you look, there is something to check out at every turn. Walk the streets in the spring and summer and, in the cooler months, check out the many beautiful structures from the inside.
